A CHAT W/ THIRTZY

Q - Introduce yourself
A - My name is THIRTZY, and I’m a producer/DJ from the West Midlands
Q - What is one record that influences or best represents your sound and musical style?
A - ‘Buck and Bury’. I found the choon while watching an interview with Skream, which was my first proper exposure to super dark grimey garage, and fell in love with the sound ever since.
Q - What got you into production?
A - My friend group in college were all super talented producers. R!PT!DE, Ewan laurie & Denver got me into electronic music and producing my own tracks.
Q - What defines your current sound to date?
A - I’ve had a recent rebrand where I've been pushing a sound that's more authentic to me and the music I listen to, described as a more dark and suave sound.
Q - What are some long-term goals you have for your career? What can we expect to see next from yourself?
A - I'm definitely looking to work with more artists and vocalists, as well as playing some festivals next year, hopefully. Expect to see more work with Transistor on the back of this dub pack and something a bit bigger down the road.
Q - How do you see the scene evolving in the next few years? What do you want to see?
A - I think organ garage will definitely be on top for a while. People like Diffrent and AURAMATIC are killing the game on that front, but we are definitely seeing a rise in mad-sounding 2-step.
I'd like to see more jazzy, grimey, garage-like artists such as Bakey and Izco. Would love to see more of this sound emerge in the scene.
